The Program
I offer a dynamic childcare program that adapts to the unique needs and interests of each child in my care. My focus is on fostering their growth and development, learning through play, and helping them become well-rounded individuals. Through a variety of engaging activities and experiences, I ensure that every child feels valued and supported on their journey of discovery and learning.
Curriculum

At Happy Campers Childcare, our activities are thoughtfully designed to provide children with hands-on experiences that connect them to nature, cultivate practical skills, and build the foundation for forming friendships.
Morning:
-
Quiet play: With soft music in the background, we ease into our day by gathering at the table for sensory play and quiet activities while all of our friends arrive.
-
Gardening Time: Kids engage in hands-on gardening activities, learning to plant seeds, care for plants, and understand the life cycle of fruits and vegetables.
-
Yoga: Friends gather for stretches to ease us into the day ahead!
Midday:
-
Cooking Together: Using ingredients from our garden (when in season), children help prepare simple, healthy meals. This activity emphasizes teamwork, healthy eating, and the joy of cooking.
-
Story Time: After lunch, we gather for story time, featuring books about nature, homesteading, and community, sparking imagination and conversation. Friends are encouraged to join in on storytelling!
Afternoon:
-
Crafts and Creativity: Children use their collected nature items to create art projects, exploring their creativity while learning about recycling and using natural materials. We'll also join in on sensory play with a variety of art materials.
-
Animal Care: If applicable, kids help care for our homestead animals, learning responsibility and empathy as they feed and interact with them.
Throughout the day:
My primary goal is to teach children how to be good friends to each other and be confident in themselves, as our guided play and free play invite them to learn basic prek and kindergarden teachings such as:
-
Social Skills: Following directions, taking turns, sharing, cooperating with others, resolving conflicts peacefully, basic concepts of empathy, and identifying and expressing feelings appropriately.
-
Language Skills: Vocabulary building, listening comprehension, expressing thoughts and needs clearly, singing songs, storytelling, using complete sentences, and participating in conversation.
-
Cognitive Skills: Basic problem-solving, critical thinking, identifying patterns, matching objects.
-
Early Literacy: Recognizing letters, letter sounds, identifying words in a book, simple reading comprehension.
-
Math Concepts: Counting objects, number recognition, simple addition and subtraction concepts, understanding shapes and patterns, and understanding basic time concepts.
-
Fine Motor Skills: Holding a pencil, drawing, coloring, cutting with scissors, using puzzles, playing with building blocks.
-
Gross Motor Skills: Running, jumping, climbing, throwing and catching a ball, balancing, hopping.
Meals & Snacks

Meals and snacks are included in our program. I prioritize the health and well-being of my childcare group by providing a carefully crafted meal plan that has:
-
No artificial food dyes
-
No seed oils
-
No high fructose corn syrup
-
No added sugars
-
No bioengineered food ingredients
Our meals are designed to nourish young bodies and minds, supporting their growth and development with wholesome ingredients. Each week, our menu features a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. In a group setting, we have a wonderful opportunity to encourage littles to be adventurous and try new things with the support of their friends. I use this to my advantage and fill our days with homemade, colorful, balanced meals that are both nutritious and appealing to young palates. Based on availability and quality, our menu is filled with foods that are organic, locally sourced, and in-season.
Children are encouraged to participate in all of our gardening activities, to better understand the process of where our food comes from and take pride in the work it takes to create it. Fruit and vegetables in our garden are started from non-GMO seeds and grown without synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. With parent permission, food grown in our garden is included in meals and prepared under ServSafe guidelines.
I have extensive experience in management within the food service industry, including my role as a catering director, where I gained my expertise in food safety and operations. My background equips me with a strong understanding of best practices to ensure a safe and healthy family-style dining experience.
As a mother myself, staying informed about food recalls and safety warnings is a top priority for me. I actively seek out scientific studies that highlight the impacts—both positive and negative—of food ingredients available in the market. I encourage the parents of my group to share any new research or concerns, ensuring that we can adapt our meal plan as needed for the well-being of our children. Together, we can create a safe and nourishing food environment.

Why are you closed one Friday each month?
I prioritize program quality, consistency, and reliability in my home childcare. By closing every other Friday, I dedicate time to deep cleaning and organizing play spaces, planning and preparing nutritious meals, researching and preparing engaging weekly activities and crafts, and seeking out new additions for our play spaces. This time allows me to restructure play areas to maintain children's interest and to address the natural wear and tear that comes with a busy home full of children.
As a mother operating a home-based business, I also recognize the importance of scheduling time for myself and my family. This time off helps me manage my own appointments, attend to my children's needs, support their extracurricular activities, and enjoy occasional three-day weekends to recharge and create lasting family memories. I'm a daycare provider who very rarely takes an unexpected day off, and this schedule ensures I don't have to.
